1. விகிதம் மற்றும் விகிதச்சமம் (Ratio and Proportion)

• Ratio (விகிதம்): A comparison of two quantities of the same kind. (ஒரே வகையான இரு அளவுகளின் ஒப்பீடு ஆகும். எ.கா: a : b).
• Proportion (விகிதச்சமம்): When two ratios are equal, they are in proportion. (இரண்டு விகிதங்கள் சமமாக இருந்தால் அவை விகிதச்சமத்தில் உள்ளன. எ.கா: a : b = c : d அல்லது a : b :: c : d).
• In a proportion, the product of the extremes equals the product of the means. (கோடி உறுப்புகளின் பெருக்கற்பலனும், நடு உறுப்புகளின் பெருக்கற்பலனும் சமம். அதாவது bc = ad).

2. நேர் விகிதம் (Direct Proportion)

• Two quantities x and y are in direct proportion if they increase or decrease together in such a way that x/y remains constant. (இரு அளவுகள் x, y நேர்விகிதத்தில் இருந்தால், ஒன்று அதிகரிக்கும்போது மற்றொன்றும் அதிகரிக்கும்; அல்லது ஒன்று குறையும்போது மற்றொன்றும் குறையும். மேலும் அவற்றின் விகிதம் x/y ஒரு மாறிலியாக அமையும்).
• Formula (சூத்திரம்): x1 / y1 = x2 / y2
• எடுத்துக்காட்டு (Example): The cost of items and the number of items. (சட்டைகளின் எண்ணிக்கையும், அவற்றின் விலையும்).

3. எதிர் விகிதம் (Inverse Proportion)

• Two quantities x and y are in inverse proportion if an increase in x leads to a decrease in y (or vice versa), such that their product xy remains constant. (இரு அளவுகள் x, y எதிர் விகிதத்தில் இருந்தால், ஒன்று அதிகரிக்கும்போது மற்றொன்று குறையும். மேலும் அவற்றின் பெருக்கற்பலன் xy ஒரு மாறிலியாக அமையும்).
• Formula (சூத்திரம்): x1 * y1 = x2 * y2
• எடுத்துக்காட்டு (Example): The number of workers and the days to complete a job. (வேலையாட்களின் எண்ணிக்கையும், வேலையை முடிக்க ஆகும் நாட்களும்).
